Truck Driver Fatigue & Hours-of-Service Violations

Property-carrying truck drivers may drive no more than 11 hours after 10 consecutive hours off duty, may not drive beyond the 14th hour after coming on duty, must take a 30-minute break after 8 cumulative hours of driving, and are limited to 60/70 on-duty hours in 7/8 days (49 CFR 395.3). Electronic logging devices (ELDs) record hours and are key evidence.
